Deon’s Bio
Deon is one of the founding members of Dry Ice International (1994). After a 10-year partnership, he assumed full ownership of the business and has taken it to new and exciting heights in the following years. Over the past ten years, Dry Ice International has grown at a rate of more than 25% per year, culminating in six factories represented in all the main centres of South Africa while delivering products and services countrywide.
For Deon, the key focus areas in business are centered around the visionary, inspirator, strategist, innovator and motivator. He is passionate about creativity in business and has established over 20 product brands, all of which contribute significantly to the tremendous growth experienced during recent times. He was awarded the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award of ActionCOACH – Business Excellence Forum & Awards (BEFA) for three consecutive years.
Deon has been an influential member of BNI (Business Network International) for the last 10 years, including a past President of the Silver Linings Chapter in Pretoria East from 2014 – 2015, which obtained Platinum status at the time (the largest BNI chapter in South Africa). He is President of the Superabundant Chapter, a new hybrid (online) BNI chapter conceptualised in 2023, which increased with more than 60 members in 6 months; the fastest growing and largest chapter in South Africa.
Deon is the co-founder and leader of the Wilgers Business Group in Pretoria East, which meets regularly to learn about the spiritual principles governing successful businesses.
Deon is a keen sportsman and enjoys cycling and road running to stay fit. He has completed two Comrades marathons, two Sani2C MTB races and three Iron Man races. He is a licensed private pilot and one of his remaining highlights is aerobatic flying in a Russian fighter jet.
Deon lives in Pretoria and has been married to Vanessa for 33 years.
He holds a B.Eng (Mechanical Engineering) from the University of Pretoria.
